The Society of Naval Architecture students successfully hosted the third episode of their third webinar series on January 8, 2024, focusing on the topic “Maritime Decarbonisation and Energy Transition”. The webinar was handled by Mr Vinod Janardanan, Director of South Asia Zone, Bureau Veritas Solutions, Marine and Offshores.
During the webinar, Mr. Vinod Janardanan shared insights on the current challenges faced by the shipping industry in achieving decarbonization goals and highlighted potential solutions. He emphasized the importance of collaboration among industry stakeholders, including shipowners, regulators, and technology providers, to accelerate the transition to sustainable energy sources. The discussion also delved into the role of innovation and research in developing alternative fuels and propulsion systems, such as hydrogen, ammonia, and electric propulsion.
